Power Generation, Petrochem, and Industrial customers are all faced with similar challenges – how can I start my boiler safely and quickly while making it easy to monitor burner performance. Forney has responded to these challenges with the latest instrumentation technology for combustion; the new Forney High Definition ( HD ) Flame Detector.
Packaged as an easy to install unitized device, the Forney HD Detector integrates both Infrared (IR) and Ultraviolet (UV) optical sensors along with an amplifier and high speed signal processors. The high speed signal processors are able to resolve the frequency data with High Definition to allow the maximum discrimination between neighboring and opposing burners. This feature helps with spurious burner trips and start up delays.
Plus with an industry first mobile app, available as a free download, plant personnel can easily monitor the performance of their burners. Within defined frequency windows, the live flame signal amplitude is displayed along with full spectrum FFT sensor output. Both of these are shown in an easy to understand visual display. Communications between the HD Detector and the HD App is over low energy Bluetooth.
The App can also be used for tuning and startup. With a password and access to the burner, an engineer can easily configure the unit while standing up to 30 feet away. Flame relays, 4-20 outputs, profile selection, and Modbus are all hard wired for maximum security.
Quick adapters are available to convert between most legacy detectors and scanners to preserve existing cabling investment. Mounting hardware, fiber optics, and cabling are all available as options. The Forney HD is approved by FM, CE, IECEX. A SIL3 rating is expected.
